Declan Rice has again been forced to apologise after appearing to sing ‘Come Out Ye Black and Tans’ during England’s win over the Czech Republic.
Rice was filmed singing the Irish rebel song during the English national anthem and the former Rep. of Ireland midfielder apologised for what he described as a “momentary slip in concentration”.
Given that he was making his England debut but 4th international appearance overall, Rice admitted to the BBC that he was “unsure of the words”.
“I apologise deeply if I offended anyone, but I just forgot how God Save The Queen went again, so a few lines of the auld Black and Tans slipped out like. Old habits die hard, sure you know yourself.”
The West Ham midfielder reaffirmed his commitment to the Three Lions before ending the interview by saying the word “bye” 26-times in a row.
