A Football Manager™ player in Bristol, England has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest continuous Football Manager season as he enters the 23nd century in the popular management simulator. Chris Wise has played Football Manager 2015 almost continually since its release in Nov, 2014 and claims his passion for the game is stronger than ever: “You’d think I’d have got bored by the time I won the Quintuple, 14 seasons running with Aston Villa,” he smiled. “But that’s the draw of the game. It’s so much better than real life. For the past 10 seasons, all 35 nominees for the World Player of the Year award were in my Dover side. I’m concerned that I may have taken this team as far as I can.”
The file size for the 185 year season has reached an astonishing 64 trillion TBs meaning the game takes 3 days to load and only NASA’s Pleiades Supercomputer, one of the most powerful in the world, can play it. “We never designed the game to go past the year 2070 so this is pretty remarkable. The game’s even ran out of names for players so it’s just using numbers instead,” said designer, Tristan Jasper. “9,573 was one of the greatest players I ever had,” Chris said. “He carried my injury ravaged Orlando Pirates side to the 2110 South African title, after we had lost 12,461 for the season.
Wise has previously been the centre of media attention due to his obsession with the game. Last October he caused controversy at an England press conference, when he attacked actual England manager Roy Hodgson for injuring 3 of his fictional England players during a “meaningless end of season friendly”.
Mr Wise has himself been England manager throughout his 185 years in sim-management but has never advanced past the quarter-finals losing 19 times on penalty shootouts. “We were so close in Andorra ’82,” claims Wise. He also revealed that Brendan Rodgers is still managing Liverpool in the game, preparing for his 188th season having spent £17 billion on 632 Southampton players down through the years.
Mr Wise says his greatest achievement was winning the only trophy he had never previously won with Dover, the FA trophy. “I had to transform my team from 19-time European Champions to a Conference side without getting sacked. That was pressure.”
Chris also claims to have never gone ‘on holiday’ in the game but denies that he has an addiction. His wife recently left him after he insisted on relocating to Brazil to scout the Copa Libertadores. His promising career as a web developer also disintegrated due to his poor health as a result of his addiction. He survives on a diet of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes in Red Bull for all 3 meals a day and sleeps on average for 42 mins a night. Dr. James Barratt said of his patients condition: “Medically speaking, I have no clue how he’s still alive. The radiation alone from drinking 6 cans of Red Bull a day could potentially turn the City of Bristol into another Chernobyl.”
