WANTAWAY ex-England international Jack Rodwell has reportedly agreed to tear up his lucrative long-term deal with Sunderland FC in return for a 50% ownership stake in the club.
With Sunderland relegated, Rodwell—who has refused to play for the club—had been set to earn the equivalent of most League One sides’ entire budgets. The consortium that purchased the club last week had hoped the player largely responsible for the club’s two successive relegations might take pity on them and not doom the club to bankruptcy too.

Luckily Rodwell seems content to rival Mike Ashley to the title of most hated man in Newcastle and laid out his demands of his remaining contract being paid in full in the form of stock options in the club, equalling 50.45%.
Otherwise the midfielder, who last played for the club during the Cuban Missile Crisis, is prepared to see out the remainder of his contract, believed to be until the end of 2031.
Once finally agreed, the move would make the 27-year-old footballer the majority shareholder of the club, putting him solely responsible for plotting the Mackems return to the Championship.
Having given up the prospect of ever being bothered to play football again, Rodwell is expected to embrace his new role and has already reached out to Ashley for advice on how to disillusion fans even more.
