VANCOUVER, BC—After Neil Young and Joni Mitchell pulled their music from Spotify in protest of Joe Rogan vaccine misinformation, Nickleback have today announced they are joining their “fellow Canadian musical icons” by removing their music with immediate effect.

Spotify were quick to comply with the Canadian rockers’ demands, removing Nickelback’s music from the service within 15 seconds of the surprise announcement.

“It’s either Nickelback or Joe Rogan, you can’t have both,” lead singer Chad Kroger announced on Twitter. “In solidarity with our peers, Neil and Joni, we, Nickelback, are hereby demanding our music be removed from Spotify no matter how many dozens of plays it gets each month.”

In response, shares of Spotify were up 24% this morning with Spotify admitting that if more bands like Nickelback continue to remove their music they may have to consider a price increase.

Upon hearing that Nickelback’s music was on their platform Spotify CEO Daniel Ek’s apologized to users for the error and insisted he would “look into how toxic content like that” was allowed on the platform.
