Pop superstar Samantha Mumba has unveiled plans for her highly anticipated new tour of Co. Leitrim. Tickets go on sale at 6am next Friday and will be available at retailers across the county.

Mumba’s long awaited comeback tour will be her first in 11 years and the 34-year-old, who at her peak frequently sold out some of Europe’s largest venues, says she’s “absolutely thrilled” to bring all her classic hits back to the people of Ireland’s least populous county.

“One woman, one county, 77 nights. Samantha Mumba Does Leitrim… 2017.”

Since unofficially retiring from the music industry, Mumba has tried her hand at a range of professions; from actor to software developer, tv presenter to mechanical engineer. However now she prepares to return to her first love, singing, and the 34-year-old insists there’s nowhere she’d rather be.

“I’m really excited, I honestly can’t wait to get back,” Samantha told the Leitrim Observer. “You know I got my big break in North Leitrim so where better to relaunch my career than the Woodview Inn, Dromahair to a sold-out crowd.”

Drumshanbo, Ballinamore, Drumsna and Kiltyclogher are just some of the other hotspots Mumba is expected to visit on her 2½ month tour of Leitrim, and reports suggest she may even be supported by none other than her brother Omero Mumba, who is said to be still “a ‘lil big man”.

Samantha will end her 2018 tour with a two-week residency in The Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon.
