VANCOUVER, BC—One thousand dollars has been stolen from the Scotiabank Theatre in Downtown Vancouver last night, after thieves made off with one large popcorn, nachos and a bag of skittles, otherwise known as “combo 5”.

“This was a perfectly orchestrated heist with criminals who knew exactly what they were doing,” a VPD spokesperson told our reporter, insisting they were “real pros” who specifically targeted the most valuable merchandise. “They ignored the tills and computers and went straight for the concession stand,” she added.

While the retail price of the goods stolen is estimated at over a thousand dollars, luckily the cost to Cineplex will not be quite that high, but could “run into double figures,” claims the theatre’s manager.

“Thankfully we have quite healthy margins so we shouldn’t need to close down operations entirely although some price increases are inevitable,” he said, before adding that he was sure their customers would understand given the tragic circumstances.

In an admirable show of support the Hollywood Theatre will reopen and join the Rio Theatre in hosting a “Save The Scotiabank Theatre” night, with all the proceeds being donated to Cineplex.
