WASHINGTON, DC—Donald Trump has vowed to ban all Canadian nationals from entering the US. Trump claims that Canada operates a “revolving door policy at the border” that risks putting the United States “in real danger”.

“No seriously, I want to talk about Canada for a second,” Trump told supporters at a rally. “They’ve got a real problem up there with immigration, with muslims and with terrorism. America needs to be very careful of our borders, both north and south.”

After momentarily pausing for some cheering, he continued, saying the ban would apply to all Canadian nationals and residents and would remain in place until Canada’s “muslim problem is under control”.

Although Trump later confirmed that notable celebrities and athletes would “obviously” be exempt from any ban, this decision could still have “severe implications” for US/Canadian relations, according to leading government officials.

Trump however, immediately addressed these allegations head on, insisting multiple times he has a “fantastic relationship” with Canada.

“I have a great relationship with the snowy Mexicans, you know, they are great people. I just built a huge tower in Vancouver, bringing tons of jobs to the area and the people there, even generously named the tower after me. I’m telling you, they love me up there.” – Donald Trump To Ban Canadians.

He even complimented Canada on some of their lesser problems: “At least their rape problem isn’t quite as bad as Mexico’s, yet.”

Trump’s extreme view of Canada can be traced back to an interview he gave with CNN in 2011. In it, the billionaire claims to have seen a “true story” about two Canadian men attempting to brainwash American children, a tactic Trump correctly points out that ISIS also use. “I saw a documentary once, about these two Canadian guys who corrupted the minds of some children in Colorado, and ultimately they got away scott-free. I believe even Saddam Hussein and the Devil were involved, if I’m not mistaken, which I never am.”

Sarah Palin took time out of her busy schedule of campaigning for Trump, to tweet her support for his announcement: “Hell yeah @DonaldJTrump! America is a scary place again. ♫Muslims to the North of me, rapists to the south, here I am stuck in the middle with you.”
