A local dad has expressed his delight upon hearing of his son’s “very thoughtful” Facebook status that wished him a happy father’s day. The father of three, who is not on Facebook himself, received no personal message from his kids but was reportedly extremely heartened to hear that his eldest son’s social media status accumulated almost 10 likes.

“He didn’t get me a card or present, call or text me, but this more than makes up for it,” he said, holding back the tears. “I guess he forgot to tell me directly, but it’s just so nice to know he cares. It’s the thought that counts.”

Despite not having a Facebook account, the 56-year-old received the heartwarming message via his wife who printed off a screenshot for him.

“My wife printed his beautiful words so I could read it for myself,” he said. “I can’t wait to frame it and hung it on the wall next to my ‘best dad ever’ certificate that my kids gave me for my 50th.”

The son-of-the-year’s status read, “Happy father’s day to the best Dad in the world! Hope you’re having a blast, whatever you’re doing,” and was accompanied by an old picture and over 30 hashtags.

The post is a notable upgrade on last year, when the son simply shared a picture with the words, “share this image to wish your Dad a happy father’s day.”
