Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez has said that a lack of activity in the transfer market is to blame for Madrid’s astonishing collapse this season.
Despite possessing the most expensively assembled squad in footballing history, and regularly competing for LA Liga and Champions League titles, Madrid fans are far from happy. Speaking in the aftermath of Real Madrid’s Champions League exit at the hand of Juventus, Perez acknowledged fan’s concerns saying the club must stop nurturing homegrown talent and instead spend big:
“I know that spending a lot of money on players is not the Madrid way but we can not compete with high-spending Juventus or Atletico. I guess there is just no place for the little guy.”
Professional model and part time footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, was naturally disappointed with the defeat. He roared: “I came to this club to win trophies, not to narrowly lose in the Champions League semi final. I shall return to Manchester. Tell Di Maria to have my number 7 shirt ready, and to not let the door hit him on the way out.”
Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane Carlo Ancelotti, was defiant in defeat: “We shall return to the top by doing what Real always does whenever we are unsuccessful… buying every player from the winning teams. We shall sign Pirlo and he can bring the Scudetto with him. Madrid wants all trophies.”
