WASHINGTON, DC—Republican senator Ted Cruz has this morning slammed President Trump’s trade tariffs on the Great White North, after discovering that Pornhub is Canadian.
Fears that access to the site could be limited in the U.S. as a retaliation for Trump’s tariffs grew Thursday night and Cruz claims it is surely a matter of when and not if Canada takes extreme measures.
After Canada responded with sanctions on U.S. steel, aluminum and other products, the Canadian-born Cruz took to Twitter to blast the U.S. President’s decision and implore him to reconsider.
“You’re playing with fire here @realDonaldTrump. We can survive without steel and aluminum, sure, but @Pornhub?!?! No Donald, this time you’ve gone TOO far,” read the first of 9 tweets from the Texan senator on the issue.
“Donald, I know you have a hardline stance on supporting U.S. porn and I support it, but this is Pornhub we’re talking about here. You have to consider what is in the best interests of the American people and the GOP fan base.”
“Pornhub is truly the only good thing to ever come out of Canada,” the die-hard basketball fan added.
“Someone needs to stop this maniac,” was Cruz’s last tweet on the matter, suggesting his 2020 bid for president would begin in earnest now.
UPDATE: Cruz has since deleted the tweets and took to Twitter again to announce that the outburst was actually an assistant who has since been disciplined personally.
